Active shooter events-understanding the chaos

I wrote a post last November after the Paris attacks to shed light on the delusion many have when they think that getting a concealed carry permit is going to somehow change the tide in an active shooter event and end it heroically like some Hollywood movie. The chances are 95% that it wont.

But I did come across a very well written post by Rick Randolph at Fighting For Balance that I think hammers home the reality of how our minds really react in these situations and that it isn’t the difference between having or not having a gun but whether someone has the ‘take the fight to them’ mindset.

In most instances, when an active shooter is taken down, it is by someone or a group of people having the courage to attack the assailant and physically stop them from shooting any more people, not by having some gun battle in close quarters.
